Dynamic Dns and free (personalized) domain name

Alright, You are probably tired of having an Dynamic DNS account with a stupid long name that takes long to remember/type and tell your friends.

Want to host something from your home computer, or just easy access from across the internet? Do it with a free domain name, and dynamic Dns. The twist is that you have your own personalized domain name (like mine) instead of ‘mydomainname.somelongdynamicdomainnamecompany.com’.

This is how.http://rcm.amazon.com/e/cm?t=bloggingforfu-20&o=1&p=8&l=bpl&asins=0764516833&fc1=000000&IS2=1&lt1=_blank&m=amazon&lc1=0000FF&bc1=000000&bg1=FFFFFF&f=ifr

Google for some free domain name companies. There is quite allot of them, like: eu.org, co.cc, co.nr…

Register there, choose your own available domain name, and you’re halfway there. Next, head to http://freedns.afraid.org/ and register there as well, now all you need to do, is update you NS record names to the ones provided by freedns. This usually takes up to 48Hours to propagate, but if you lucky, it’s instant.

Now, under “Dynamic DNS” section on Freedns, they have a lot of utils to help keep you home ip updated to their services. And you’re all done.

If you need more info, feel free to ask, will add some more information as needed (maybe some screenshots)
